Terms of Use
Last updated: September 28, 2026
By using LocaleDB you agree to these terms. They are short because the project is simple: free, open-source locale data, provided as is.
Open source
LocaleDB's source code is released under the MIT License. You are free to use, copy and modify it under that license.
The data
Locale data is aggregated from third-party sources such as Unicode CLDR, mledoze/countries, the World Bank, the IANA tz database, Google libphonenumber, Google libaddressinput, Wikidata, ourworldincode/currency, mwgg/Airports and IP2Location. Each source keeps its own license and attribution requirements; if you redistribute the data, check and follow them. The full list of sources is in the documentation.
No warranty
The site, its data and its code are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. Localization rules change and sources can disagree, so verify anything critical, such as legal, financial or safety-related formats, before relying on it. The maintainer is not liable for any damages arising from the use of the site or its data.
Fair use
The website and its endpoints, including the export tool, are free to use. Please don't overload them with automated high-volume requests; access may be limited to keep the service available for everyone.
Contributions
Contributions made through GitHub are licensed under the project's MIT License, as described in the contributing guide.
Changes
These terms may be updated as the project evolves. The date at the top of the page shows the latest revision; continuing to use the site means you accept the current version.
